do you wanna thread the fight out or just handwave it until something important needs to happen

[He nods back to Falco, noting that the boy had just brought a knife out, seemingly cutting himself...interesting, especially since he gets to see what's next.]

Alright. Don't hold anything back, now.

[What Childe does is very much the same as last time, skipping past fighting with his Vision or Delusion first and going right to his transformation. As he dons his dark armor once more, he stands before Falco ready to fight, the abyssal cape inscribed with the stars themselves billowing behind him.

He'd have to push Falco to his limit, to ensure being able to see if this problem truly existed- and for Childe's own entertainment, of course.]

sounds like a plan to me!

[The bolt of lightning the streaks down from the sky and initiates the transformation causes the Harbinger to cover his eyes, intrigued by the creature that forms before him. It certainly is different yes, and he wonders if Falco has made the conscious decision to take this form instead of the more birdlike one he'd had before. It's still impressive, the titan twice his size at the height he stands in his own transformation, so this will do just fine. That same shriek, he remembers it well, but at least for now he knows that the boy is in control of it.

His staff is broken apart into two blades in his hands, and they begin their match- Childe noticing that Falco is pulling his punches.

That won't do.]

[Because Childe won't hold back as he fights. He knows this titan can take it, and as he fights he teleports around swipes, sending hydro and electro attacks Falco's way.]

[Such power and yet such reluctance to use it. He can see that in those steps backward, that frightened whimper. Perhaps he should of been a little more soft with his encouragement, but in the heat of battle, it's kill or be killed. But that softness can wait until the battle is over. For now, he continues to try to push Falco, but it was evident that he'd need a lot more help than just fighting in his titan form if he were to ever be a real warrior.

Things that can be addressed later, if the boy wanted it.

Childe tries to be encouraging to him, yelling phrases back like, strike harder next time! or come now, that's all you've got? you're still holding back! and the like. But the longer they fight, the more he sees the titan coming back at him like he really means it, the way he'd asked him to in the beginning.

Thankfully Childe's movements are quick, before the jaw titan can snap him up into its jaws, a near miss that makes the Harbinger's eyes go wide. The fight had been getting more and more exciting since it appeared that Falco was trying, and he grins wickedly from behind the mask. But, something didn't sit right with him either, and he can't quite put his finger on it. How long had they been fighting? He doesn't see any sign of that familiar sludge that came oozing out of the titan just a few months prior- but he wonders now if Falco's fears were becoming a reality.

He holds up a hand to stop, ceasing his fighting and floating in midair a few dozen feet in front of Falco. But he's on edge. Would he stop attacking? Or did they go too far?]

[Thanks the archons he can teleport.

That lunge comes fast, and the mouth of the monster fills his vision before he snaps out of existence from that spot and backward, away from it. Falco had called this the Jaw Titan, and now isn't a good time to find out if he had the strength to keep it from cutting him in half with one chomp.

This isn't good, he thinks, as he looks for signs of that goo again. He thought he'd seen purple in the mouth too, but he couldn't stick around to find out. There's no way he's going inside the mouth again, if he can help it. But the bad part is, if he's becoming possessed again, he knows that Childe will go for the nape...he's got to make a distraction before those claws can come up and protect it. He brings a hand down, a dark circle of energy appearing over the space between Falco's eyes as four swords made of pure electro energy come raining down on that area- and Childe disappears again.

About ten feet over the nape of the neck, ready to cut the boy out.]

[He's never seen any member of the Survey Corps take a titan down, nor does he even know it exists or what their weapons look like. All he knows is that it'll take a good amount of strength to cut through the flesh, and he's got to be careful. Thankfully, his weapons are similar enough, and his own strength coupled with the abyssal power he now wields makes up for the speed the corps use to cut open the nape of a titan- and he falls, constellations shining from his blades as he slashes exactly where Falco had shown him, blood splashing up on him as he makes the necessary opening.

The blood sizzles off his armor, but thankfully he can't feel the heat of it, blade slashing away the skin-like appendage that attaches to Falco's face to free him.]

[He grabs the boy around his waist, lifting him out and jumping clear out of the titan itself, Childe putting as much distance between them and the boy's weapon of war. He finds a spot on the ground, kneeling and checking Falco while also keeping an eye on the titan. Just in case.]

[The Harbinger looks down, silent in his shock that there was an important part of Falco missing. An appendage he was sure he should have missed in his entry into the nape of the titan, and yet the familiar sight of the same blood that flowed through his own veins smelling of flowers pours out. What's more surprising is what happens next, the arm steaming just as the corpse of the titan is as it disintegrates.

He lays Falco down on the ground, taking a deep breath as he lets his transformation go, flecking into the wind as he returns to his normal self. Childe fights through the exhaustion and the pain wracking his body from the burden of the transformation to watch Falco, sighing heavily at his failure to even execute the simple task of cutting him out safely. How he'd make it up to him, he doesn't know. But what's curious is that the bleeding has stopped on its own, and Childe hasn't even bothered to use his blood manipulation skills to slow the bloodflow.

Unless this is something new...?]

Hey, Falco, buddy? Hey...talk for me, are you alright?

[A stupid question to ask, but he wants to distract the boy from the missing limb.]

[It'll grow back?

What a final thing to say before Falco passes out. He'd been ready to tilt the boy to the side so he could puke, but it never comes. Childe's eyes return to the arm that still steams, and he's sure if he looks closely there's the faintest hints of the arm regenerating, albeit slow. This is the power of a human who can transform into a titan, huh. Incredible. If it weren't such a gruesome sight and the fact that he'd passed out, he'd tell Falco how impressed he was.

But right now, that's neither here nor there. With the assurance that the shell of the titan was no threat, he picks Falco up, to carry the boy in his arms back towards town. He needs rest, and going to the Lumenarium seemed like the logical choice right about now. Even if he didn't need help with his arm, he still may need medical assistance.

Archons, he needs some medical assistance right now himself.]

[The weight of a hand on his chest brings his attention back downwards towards Falco, as the treads through the woods back towards town. A sigh of relief escapes him to see the boy awake, even though he can't imagine how much pain he must be in right now. Whatever pain Childe is enduring from the transformation seems trivial in comparison to the lack of an arm that Falco is suffering, even if it's growing back. The boy is so hot in his arms, but that won't stop him from getting him back.]

Falco, [he says softly,] I'm taking you to the hospital. Your arm...you're right, it seems to be growing back, as strange as that is...but I need to make sure you'll be alright.

[He pauses, thinking on how to say this, but perhaps he's thinking about it too hard.]

Your arm...that was an amateur mistake on my part. I'm sorry. I hope you don't hold that against me.

[The Harbinger looks down at Falco's arm in disbelief at that statement. How on earth could he not need to at least be looked at. But again, Falco knows his own power far better than Childe could ever comprehend, and it takes him a second of debating with himself whether he should take Falco anyway.

Perhaps, he should try to understand this better before making that decision.]

Heh, [he laughs worriedly,] that makes me believe this isn't the first time you've lost an appendage. Your titan ability is an incredible power. You'll have to teach it to me sometime, if you don't mind.

[Ah, he understands. The power itself wasn't a technique, but perhaps something more innate. Not like the Foul Legacy Transformation, which could be taught to others...oh well. Can't say a guy didn't at least ask.]

Hey, there's no need for an apology. For a moment there, I wasn't sure what was going on. Your attacks were so timid at first, but became more and more fierce. I was quite satisfied with that outcome, but it was then I realized what was happening...you coughed up a bit of that slime that would pour out of the mouth of your titan.

[He sighs, the analytical part of him going over the fight again in his mind. Yeah.]

Looks like you were right after all. Too long in that form, and you'll begin to lose control of your titan once again.

[And the worst part is, he doesn't have a clue how he could possibly help Falco deal with that, to fend it off.]

[It feels like they'd been defeated. Childe silently curses the fact that they were not back in Teyvat, where he would have had all the resources in the world, literally, to help Falco. Maybe defeated for now, but perhaps...]

I've no doubt that you'll have to call upon your titan once again while we reside here. Had we been in my world, I could have pulled some strings to recruit some of the brightest minds from the Academia to research whatever that thing is that lives inside of you and seal it...but of course, we aren't so lucky. Let's hope one of them washes up upon our shores in the near future. I'll ask them to help.

[He pauses for a moment, thinking again. There's so many things that could go wrong, and he's processing it all.]

I also fear that the more you use it, the faster you'll lose control each time. It may be worth while to simply save it for crucial moments, as I do with my own transformation. It's too bad, but if you truly do not want to fight, you can always leave the bloodshed to myself and others like me. I don't mind taking on that burden. In fact, it's what I enjoy most.

[He gets that feeling. Being worn down by your own power, it's such a pain, but that's just how it goes.

Childe hesitates, realizing that he'd been treating Falco more like an adult just now than the younger boy that he actually is. Perhaps that wasn't fair of him to do, and he regrets saying what he'd just said. Even though Falco has clearly taken on a great responsibility with his titan powers, though Childe has no way of knowing what that responsibility truly is, should he even be talking about killing around someone who is still so young?]

Falco...I apologize. I know you've been through a lot, but I shouldn't be making you face the truths of this world any faster than you already are. Let me put it this way- I was born to fight. So, I enjoy it in any form it comes in, that's all. It's as simple as that.

[That might be the best way of putting it before he goes off into a monologue about slaying powerful foes.]

[A sad smile unfolds across his features and his eyebrows knit in worry, breathing out a small sigh as Falco's head rests against him. What a cruel world it was, to put him through this. The Harbinger falls silent for a moment to reflect on their battle, the slow change in demeanor as Falco fought him with his titan, and the boy he carried in his arms now-

When his own brother had died as a Waste back in the dream, he couldn't protect him. But maybe he could at least parry the danger from Falco instead.

It's the least he could do.]

Let's get you back home.

[The rest of the trip back is quiet, and he takes Falco home as he'd asked. To let him rest, to let him grow back his arm.]
